What makes a poet? Mixing discussion with performance, three rising stars dig deep into the questions of modern poetry, from its use in understanding and expressing identity, to the challenges faced in becoming a poet, to the sometimes fraught debate over spoken versus page poetry.

Afra Atiq is an award-winning Emirati poet who has been featured at events around the world.

Carlos Andrés Gómez is a Colombian-American poet from New York City and winner of the Atlanta Review International Poetry Prize among others. His most recent book is Hijito.

Farah Chamma is a Palestinian poet who writes in Arabic, English and French and who has made a name for herself as one of very few slam poets performing in Arabic.
