Selim Batti is a writer, translator and literary critic. His works include the novels I Will Not Leave My Home, published in 2017, Phonograph in 2018 and A Colorful Mourning Garment in 2019, as well as a booklet entitled “Semantics in Scientific Translation” published by the Dominican University, where he lectured on literary translation, English literature and comparative grammar. He also wrote the study “Problems of Literary Translation between Arabic and English”.
Selim holds a BA in social affairs from Fanshawe College, Canada, and is currently completing his postgraduate studies in literary criticism. He has been a university professor and an activist in women’s and children’s rights, writing for the Lebanese newspaper Al-Nahar since 2019. He worked for the United Nations MCC organisation in support of Syrian and Iraqi refugees in North America, and with the elderly and people with special needs in Canada.
