Rasha Adly is an Egyptian novelist and researcher. An independent lecturer on art history, she holds a bachelor of arts from the Department of History of Ain Shams University and a masters in art history from the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts. Rasha is a member of the Association of Art Historians in the United Kingdom, and a correspondent for the Emirates Culture magazine in Cairo.
She has published several novels, most notably The Tattoo in 2015 and Shores of Departure in 2016. Both Passion and The Last Days of the Pasha were longlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction Prize, in 2018 and 2020 respectively.
Rasha’s non-fiction books on culture, fine art and literary criticism include Cairo, the Memories, the City: A Study of Orientalist Art, Mawlawiyya and Dervishes in Orientalist Art, and Women Through the Ages in the History of Art.
Her most recent book, On the Edge of the Night, was published in 2020.
