LitFest Launchpad speaker Padmini Sankar, a short-story writer and author, has lived in Dubai for many years. Her debut novel, The Mother of all Parties, a fun romp through the life of a Dubai socialite, has been well received, and is soon to be made into a movie.
Her stories have been published in online magazines or shortlisted in competitions. The most recent was a finalist in the Historical Writers’ Association Dorothy Dunnett Short Story Award, and published in their anthology.
Padmini has also self-published a family history, and contributes to the op-ed column of a local paper. Presently, she is writing a sequel to The Mother of all Parties, working on a collection of Dubai-based stories, and also gathering material for a historical novel that’s been playing on her mind for many years.
When not writing, she spends most of her time reading, cooking (she claims to make the best gunpowder masala in town), travelling, or else enjoying a chinwag with her friends.
She has two adult children and lives with her husband in Dubai.
