Gillian Cross

Gillian Cross is a British author of children’s books best known for The Demon Headmaster series which became a BBC television series.

In 1979, Gillian published her first book, The Runaway before creating the children’s series The Demon Headmaster series three years later—the series is still ongoing and is widely loved by children. Gillian won the 1990 Carnegie Medal for Wolf and the 1992 Whitbread Children’s Book Award for The Great Elephant Chase. Her book After Tomorrow was widely praised for its depiction of a dystopian Britain ruined by financial crisis.
