Gavin Thurston is an award-winning cameraman specialising in wildlife. He has worked on 18 of Sir David Attenborough’s series and has travelled and filmed on all seven continents and at both North and South poles. While filming for Blue Planet 2 he was in the submersible that set the world record for deepest dive in Antarctica.
His work has led to close encounters with charismatic and dangerous animals, including having his lens hood bitten off by a Siberian tiger and being slapped by a silverback gorilla.
He has won numerous awards including a Royal Humane Society Award for Bravery, multiple Emmys and BAFTAs for cinematography and 4 RTS awards along with Kodak, Jackson Hole, Missoula and IMIS awards for photography.
