Frédéric Kanouté was born in France to a Malian father and a French mother. He became a football star at a young age and went on to become one of the top strikers of his generation. Conscious of his own privileged situation and moved especially by the needs of orphaned children in Mali, he founded a children’s village in his early 20s as part of the Kanouté Foundation. The village has a school, a medical centre, and extensive teaching and training programmes. Freddie was a main contributor to the book ‘How to do good- Essays on Building a Better World’ and in 2017 accompanied the ‘How to do good’ tour as a keynote speaker in Oslo, Stockholm, Paris and London.
