Dr Shereen Abouelnaga

Egyptian author and Literary critic, Shereen works as part-time professor in Arabic Literature and Islamic Civilization Department at the American University in Cairo.

She has written widely in English and Arabic on cultural and literary topics, with a special focus on gender and has participated in many local and international conferences.

Her new book Women in Revolutionary Egypt: Gender and the New Geographic’s of Identity explores the relationship between gender, art and politics in contemporary Egypt.

She is a Jury member of Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature and the Cairo Short Stories 2018 competition in cooperation with German Goethe Institute.
