Darcey Bussell

Dame Darcey Bussell is an English retired ballerina and a judge on the BBC television dance contest Strictly Come Dancing.

After training at the Arts Educational School and the Royal Ballet School, Darcey started her career at Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet before going on to becoming a principal dancer at the age of 20 at the Royal Ballet. She is a widely acclaimed as one of the great British ballerinas.

Beginning in 2008, she wrote the Magic Ballerina series of children’s books, eventually publishing  23 short books in the series . She also co-wrote The Young Dancer with the Royal Ballet School and wrote an introduction to the book The Illustrated Book of Ballet by Barbara Newman. Darcey Bussell: Evolved, published in 2018, features rare and unseen photographs accompanied by behind-the-scenes stories and personal anecdotes.
