Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, through their successful TV partnership, have been described as having ‘changed daytime TV’. Their daily programme, This Morning, brought them both celebrity status and the ‘Richard & Judy Book Club’ has become a platform to potentially make the careers of the chosen authors.
Madeley and Finnigan met during their time working for Granada TV. The first episode of This Morning premiered in 1988 and the show lasted 13 years.
Madeley’s first book, Fathers and Sons, published in 2009, looked at four generations of fathers in his family. Madeley’s first fictional novel, Some Day I’ll Find You, was published in 2013 to critical acclaim. He followed it up with The Way You Look Tonight, a thriller set in 1960s America.
Finnigan also took the leap from literary critic to author with the publication of her first novel Eloise, which was a Sunday Times bestseller. Following the success of Eloise, Finnigan published her second novel, I Do Not Sleep, in 2015.
The couple were at the 2014 Emirates Airline Festival of Literature where they shared their story of success and discussed their books.
