H.E. Mohammed Al Murr was a guest of the inaugural Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, in 2009. He is the author of 15 short story collections.

Al Murr is Speaker of the FNC, before which he was Deputy Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. He also served as the Chairman of the Dubai Cultural Council from its establishment in January 2004 until March 2008 when the Dubai Cultural Council merged with Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.

Al Murr was born in Dubai in 1955 and began his life-long obsession with reading and writing at an early age. He wrote his early articles at school. He completed his University degree from Syracuse, New York, USA.

Al Murr served as a member of the Board of Directors of Emirates Media and is a member of various Academic Institutions and Councils. He was Editor-in-chief of Khaleej Times and wrote a weekly column for it, Awraq Al-Ahad. He was also Executive Editor- in-Chief of Al Bayan and regularly wrote the column Hadeeth Al-Ethnain. Additionally, he wrote the Muntasaf Al-Osbou column for Al-Reyada Wa Al-Shabab magazine. From 1987 to 2001, he was head of the Scientific and Cultural Association.
