Dha’en Shaheen is the Editor-in-Chief of Al Bayan, the Dubai-based Arabic newspaper, and has previously headed or supervised various departments. A poet and literary critic, he has a number of collections of his work published in Arabic, including the poetry collections Silence-Inspiring Sign and Silent Wind; collections of articles and essays entitled Unsellable Stuff, to spell your Name as a Dream, Out of Context, Other Faces for Life and In the Picture, Out of the Frame; and critical articles collected under the title Inscriptions on the Gate of Al-Napat.
Dha’en is a member of the Emirates Writers Foundation, in which he served as a PR Official and the Arab Writers’ General Foundation where he is Managing Editor for the magazine Shoun Adabia. He has served as a jury member on the Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Prize for Childhood Creations. He has previously participated in several cultural, literary and movie festivals, including the Pizzaro Film Festival, Italy; the Mediterranean Film Festival of Pantelleria in Sicily, Italy; and the World Youth Festival in Pyongyang, North Korea, 1989.
