Becky Kilsby fell in love with poetry when she was 17. She has spent much of her professional life reading and teaching poetry – exploring how poets achieve their effects to produce a piece of art that moves and inspires. Her Masters dissertation examined Carol Ann Duffy’s anthology The World’s Wife, and the focus of her ongoing PhD studies is an exploration of the ways readers interact with literature.
Becky has taught literature at secondary and tertiary level and currently teaches on the Journalism and Media Studies BA programmes at Middlesex University, Dubai. Her poetry is concerned with what it means to live in Dubai and have roots in the UK, as well as experiences in other countries she has been fortunate enough to visit. For Becky, poetry is about capturing a mood, an occasion, a place or time that has been powerful for her and which she hopes will resonate with readers.
